JACL Honolulu Announces Fundraising Drive

The Honolulu Chapter of the Japanese American Citizen’s League (JACL) is inviting members, partners and other supporters of civil rights work in Hawaiʻi to join in raising vital funding for the Hawaiʻi Coalition for Immigrant Rights (HCIR).

With Hawaiʻi’s immigrant communities subjected to unannounced raids and the looming threat of detention without due process, the coordinating work of HCIR is more important than ever.

Started in 2010, HCIR brings together immigrants, immigrant-led organizations, immigrant-serving organizations, and allies. United in advocacy and education for equal justice and community inclusion for immigrants, HCIR stands, along with the JACL Honolulu, as an organizational member of the broad-based Hawai’i Coalition for Civil Rights.

Informed by a long history of supporting organizations that share our vision of a fair and just community for all, JACL Honolulu is inviting members to join us in sending financial support to HCIR.

HCIR currently plays a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community, by ensuring coordination and delivery of critical services to immigrants. At a time when presumed citizenship status has led to the forced removal and detention of Hawaiʻi residents, the JACL recognizes a direct link to the ongoing work of HCIR.
